Leinart Ready to Compete for Starting QB Job in Arizona

Matt Leinart

Matt Leinart is going to fight hard to be the starting quarterback of the Arizona Cardinals in 2010.

It’s my time and I know that,” Leinart said in a radio interview Wednesday with KTAR, per PFT. “I’m working my butt off to get ready.”

Leinart admits that he knows he will not be given the starting job, but will instead have to earn it in training camp.

“Competition makes you better, I’m aware of that,” Leinart said. “To be honest with you I’m not really worried about anything. I don’t know if that’s cockiness or not.

“I’m confident that I can do it. I’ve been in the system for three years. To me it doesn’t really matter because I’m focused on my job.”

The Cardinals are currently looking for a quarterback to compete with him.

Derek Anderson is available. Brady Quinn is, too.
