Leinart and Texans Reach Deal, Should Overtake Orlovsky as No. 2 QB

Matt Leinart

Matt Lieinart signed a one-year deal with the Texans Monday

Matt Leinart wasn’t out of work for long.

Less than 48 hours after he was released by the Arizona Cardinals, Leinart signed a one-year contract with the Houston Texans according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Leinart previously stated that he wanted to be a starting quarterback, but it is highly unlikely that he will get that opportunity in Houston.

Matt Schaub is more than secure as the team’s No. 1 and will remain as such barring injury.

The former USC quarterback could unseat Dan Orlovsky as the team’s primary backup, however. Orlovsky struggled during the preseason while Lineart statically shined in his four exhibition game appearances.
