Jamar Williams should make his Carolina Panthers debut Saturday
Barring some unforeseen circumstance, linebacker Jamar Williams will finally see the field for the Carolina Panthers Saturday night.
Acquired from the Chicago Bears on draft day in April, Williams has been hurt for much of training camp and the preseason and has yet to show the Panthers what he is capable of on the field.
That should change this week, according to Coach John Fox.
“He’s been gone for a while, but we’re trying to get him up to speed,” Fox said. “Hopefully, he’ll take advantage of those opportunities. He showed us that he was capable early on. It’s nobody’s fault, but he’s been nicked and been able to practice or play and we’ve got two games left.”
Fox even went so far as to say that Williams could see action with the first team defense.
Williams was a role player in Chicago, playing in every game in each of the last three seasons but only starting a total of three games.
His best season was in 2009, when he finished with 43 tackles, 35 of which were solo.
