Kurt Warner Won’t Be Like Brett Favre About Retirement

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner is seriously contemplating retirement, but won’t flip-flop his stance like Brett Favre.

He sat down the Terry Bradshaw for an interview that aired on FOX NFL pre-game on Saturday before the Cardinals playoff game against the New Orleans Saints to talk about it.

“I’m going to make a decision and stick with that decision whatever it is,” Warner said. “I’d be lying to you if I said I got to this age and I don’t think about retirement… that I don’t think about my future… that I don’t look forward to retirement.”

Warner suffered the fifth concussion of his career this season—an injury that could be a factor in his decision one way or the other.

“I think the one thing with my family, more than anything else, is my long-term health,” he said in the interview.

Still, there is little doubt that Warner can still get it done on the field. Against the Green Bay Packer in the opening round of the NFL playoffs he had arguably one of the best games of his career.

“The question is ‘When is the right time?’,” Warner said of retirement. “You don’t want to leave to early and you don’t want to stay too late.”
