The New York Jets signed OL Michael Turkovich to a reserve/future contract on Wednesday. The big lineman out of Notre Dame went undrafted in 2009, but started his final two seasons at left guard for the Irish.
In other Jets news, team officials are expected to meet with the agent for running back Thomas Jones at the Scouting Combine according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss. The team wants to renegotiate his contract before March 9 when he is due to be paid a $2.8 million roster. If the sides cannot reach an agreement he could be released.
Meanwhile, their AFC East opponent New England Patriots announced the signing of WR David Patten to a one-year contract.
The veteran receiver previously played for the team from 2001-2004 before moving on to a host of other teams. He is not expected to be more than a fourth receiver on the depth chart.
