Jets RB Washington Could Become Hot Commodity

The New York Jets backfield is going to look dramatically different in 2010.

After releasing Thomas Jones on Friday, they are in danger or losing free agent running back Leon Washington in the next week or so according to speculation from PFT’s Mike Florio.

Washington, who missed much of the 2009 season due to a broken leg, could become a good value for a team looking to add some depth on the ground.

In fact, he could flat out be a steal due to his injury last season.

The Jets only placed a second-round tender on him despite averaging nearly six yards per touch in 2008.

Having only four NFL seasons under his belt, there’s a strong chance that Washington has plenty left in his tank.
