Jaguars Seek Their First Pre-season Win

Jack Del RioThe Jacksonville Jaguars are looking for their first pre-season win against their interstate rivals, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Jaguars starters will play into the second quarter, but who the starters will be is anyone’s guess.

“We have several positional battles for starting spots up for grabs right now, and we’d like to settle those, most notably the last guard spot and the safety spot,” Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio said. “Those are the two that have been discussed throughout camp, and we’d like to finish our evaluation after this ballgame.”

Gerald Alexander, Anthony Smith, Reggie Nelson and Sean Considine are the top contenders at the safety position.  At offensive guard, Kynan Forney, Justin Smiley, Vince Manuwai are in the mix.

In addition to settling the positions battles, the Jaguars are hoping to see their defense take strides forward like the offense did last week. The Buccaneers will be without second year quarterback Josh Freeman, so the Jacksonville defense should be able to enjoy a strong performance.

” I feel like we made some strides from week one to week two. We need to do the same thing this week; continue to improve,” Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio said.
