According to the Florida Times Union, Jacksonville Jaguars Head Coach Jack Del Rio will be meeting with team owner Wayne Weaver on Tuesday to discuss Del Rio’s future with the Jaguars.
One of just nine current NFL head coaches with 50+ wins, Del Rio finished his 7th season with the Jags in ’09. Since joining the club in 2003, Del Rio compiled a record of 58 wins and 57 losses.
Should Weaver decide to go in a different direction, Del Rio immediately becomes a lead candidate for the vacant head coaching position at the University of Southern California.
Del Rio was a four-year starter (1981-84) at USC, where he earned consensus All-America honors as a senior and was runner-up for the Lombardi Award. He played in the 1982 Fiesta Bowl and was co-MVP of the 1985 Rose Bowl. Del Rio finished his college career with 340 tackles, 58 tackles for loss, five fumble recoveries and one interception.
