Is Wade Phillips’ Job with Cowboys in Doubt After Loss to Vikings?

After such a devastating loss, the future of Wade Phillips with the Dallas Cowboys could still be very much in doubt.

Earlier on Sunday reports surfaced that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was ready to offer Phillips a two-year contract extension.

But will he be so generous after a 34-3 shellacking by the Minnesota Vikings? At least two former Cowboy greats think he will.

“Jerry Jones has high expectations and is not a patient man,” former Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman said on FOX. “Anybody who thinks that winning a Wild Card game will satisfy Jerry Jones is sadly mistaken.

“That being the case, I think overall he has done a good job and I believe he will be back.”

Former Cowboys Super Bowl winning coach Jimmy Johnson agrees.

“Jerry understands that Wade has had an outstanding year,” he said. “I think he will be back.”

Still, there are those who wonder if Jones will cut ties now.

Howie Long openly suggested Bill Cowher for the position on Sunday.
