Indianapolis Schools Opening Late on Day After Super Bowl

Two Hour Delay

Two Hour Delay

Taking a page from the New Orleans school system, Indianapolis Public Schools will open two hours late next Monday due to the huge interest in the Super Bowl.

The funny thing is that it’s not the students the the public schools system is worried about. It’s the bus drivers.

The morning after the Colts defeated the Chicago Bears in the 2007 Super Bowl, so many drivers called out sick that there wasn’t any other choice but to cancel class for the day.

By delaying the start-time by two hours, drivers won’t have to report for duty until 7:30 a.m. as opposed to their typical 5:30 a.m. role call.

It’s not quite as good as the kids in New Orleans have it though. Those students have the day off.
