Huff Preparing Young Raiders Teammates Cut Day

Michael Huff is trying to give his young teammates a dose of reality

Veteran safety Michael Huff is trying to prepare his young teammates for some of the toughest roster cuts in recent Oakland Raiders history.

“I try to tell the young guys about the business side of things,” Huff told Vittorio Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle. “You never know what’s going to happen, you never know who’s going to get cut. It’s nothing personal, it’s just what happens in the NFL.”

Huff’s comments echo the words of Tom Cable who has stated on numerous occassions that trimming the roster to 53 players will be no easy task this year.

“There’s definitely going to be some eye-openers, but that’s what goes with being a good organization, being a team that has quality depth and great players,” Huff said of the forthcoming cuts.

Tonight’s game against the Seattle Seahawks marks the final opportunity for those players on the bubble to prove they deserve to be on the final roster.

The grim reality is that even guys who have a good showing against Pete Carroll and company will find themselves looking for work in 48 hours.

They won’t be alone. In total, 704 NFL players will be cut by Saturday afternoon.
