Goodell: Gaines Adams “Stood Out”

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell had nothing but good things to say about Gaines Adams today.

Goodell posted the following on Twitter this morning:

“Just arrived in San Diego and heard the sad news about the death of Gaines Adams. I remember him at 2007 Draft as a fine young man.”

Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times also caught up with Goodell on the topic today.

“He was a terrific young man. I met him at the draft when he came in, and he stood out. He was a very caring individual. I’d seen him a couple of times, most recently in Chicago.

“He seemed like a very genuine, nice man. He seemed focused on being a good person, not just an NFL player. I was always taken with him.”

Gaines Adams passed away this morning due to cardiac arrest. He left his family and friends much too early at the young age of 26.
