While his agent is optimistic that he can return to football, doctors will wait until after several more procedures are performed on the severely injured left leg of Chad Jones before giving a prognosis on his return.

Jones, the third-round draft pick of the New York Giants, nearly lost his leg in a single-car accident last month in New Orleans.

The New York Giants have been nothing short of dedicated to their rookie since that time. They have stepped up and are taking medical responsibility for him according to Ted Lewis of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

“Things are going well,” Chad’s father Al Jones said. “They have shown that they are taking good care of Chad while they’re doing what they need to do to make sure their investment is protected.”

Jones was transferred to the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York to continue his treatment.

His first scheduled surgery at the new center was scheduled for Saturday.

This past Thursday the former LSU Tiger was moved out of intensive care and received a visit from head coach Tom Coughlin.
