Giants Put Michael Johnson On IR, Promote Brian Jackson

Michael Johnson

The New York Giants placed safety Michael Johnson on IR Tuesday

The New York Giants placed safety Michael Johnson on injured reserve with a herniated disc Tuesday, ending his 2010 campaign.

Johnson was replaced on the roster by defensive back Brian Jackson, whom the team signed from its practice squad.

The move to I.R. could signify the end of Johnson’s career with the Giants. Paul Schwartz of the NY Post points out that his play has regressed over the past couple seasons doesn’t bode well for his future in blue. Neither do the signings of Antrel Rolle and Deon Grant.

Jackson, meanwhile, spent training camp with the New York Jets. He is best known for being tied to the goal post and hazed by veterans which was featured on HBO’s “Hard Knocks.”
