Giants Place Domenik Hixon on Waivers, Sign Adam Jennings

Domenik Hixon

The Giants placed Domenik Hixon on waivers despite his injury.

The New York Giants waived injured wide receiver / return specialist Domenik Hixon.

Hixon, who will spend 2010 on injured reserve after tearing his ACL last month, could be of some interest to a team who is willing to pay his one-year, $1.684 million salary for the right to stash him away and re-sign heading into next season (if there is one).

He ranked second in punt return average in the NFL last season.

If nobody bites on Hixon, the Giants will have two options.

First, they could simply place him on I.R. and monitor his rehab process.

The two sides could also reach an injury settlement, giving Hixon his outright release.

The team filled Hixon’s spot on the roster by signing wide receiver Adam Jennings.

Jennings, a 2006 sixth-round draft choice of the Atlanta Falcons, most recently played for the Detroit Lions.
