Gerald McCoy is returning to OU in advance of Buccaneers training camp.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers first-round pick Gerald McCoy plans to work out with the University of Oklahoma in an effort to get ready for his first NFL training camp and season.
McCoy dominated Oklahoma’s defensive line during his three seasons as a starter and is anxious to return to the place that made him the third overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.
“I’m going to go back and get involved with those to get me in shape so when I come back I’ll be in shape in camp,” McCoy told Stephen Holder of the St. Petersburg Times.
“Our workouts are so intense. Our strength coach, Jimmy Smith, he’s built a little hill called Mount Smitty. The hill is like torture. He’s like a military-based trainer… You’ve never seen Oklahoma lose a game because we were out of shape.”
While it’s a guarantee that McCoy will show up to camp in incredible shape, it remains to be seen whether he will show up to camp on time. He is yet to sign a contract with the team.
