Fox, Time Warner and Bright House Reach Deal, No Blackouts

Fox television and Time Warner Cable announced that they reached an agreement which will allow the Rupert Murdoch owned company to continue to broadcast its networks to literally millions of cable subscribers.

The two parties, along with Bright House Networks, had been embroiled in a bitter dispute over network fees. Fox threatened to yank its feed for its cable channels and broadcast network from Time Warner if an agreement was not reached to increase subscriber fees.

Fox reportedly wanted up to $1 per month per cable subscriber.

“We’re pleased that, after months of negotiations, we were able to reach a fair agreement with Time Warner Cable — one that recognizes the value of our programming,” said Chase Carey of News Corp., parent company of Fox.

Football fans in major media markets such as New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Washington, DC can all breathe a sigh of relief.

They will be able to view the BCS games and the NFL in the comfort of their own homes.
