The NFL on FOX will be a lot smarter this season with the addition of Mike Pereira.
FOX Sports has just got a big leg up on its competition for the upcoming NFL season.
The network hired Mike Pereira, the recently retired NFL director of officiating, as a multi-platform rules analyst according to Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times.
FOX plans to build Pereira a command center in Los Angeles where he can monitor every game and interpret the controversial calls made during the games. He had a similar at NFL headquarters in New York.
He will also conduct a live chat with fans during the games to take questions about the calls.
“If I was given my choice of anything I could do after retiring from the league, this is pretty much it,” Pereira told the paper.
“For 12 years I’ve been teaching officiating to 120 guys. Now I feel like I’m going to be teaching officiating to millions. I really have a chance to educate people on the rules.”
