Former Eagles RB Brian Westbrook Hopes to Sign Soon

Brian Westbrook hopes to sign soon. He just doesn't know where yet.

Former Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook hopes to sign with a team soon, but it has to be the right fit for him.

Westbrook told Jason Reid of the Washington Post that he has spoken to “six or seven teams,” but has not yet made a decision.

Despite an already crowded backfield, the Washington Redskins remain in the running to land his services.

“(I would) love to be a part of the organization,” Westbrook told the Redskins beat reporter while cautioning “it just needs to make sense for both of us.”

Regardless of what team Westbrook settles on, he feels that he is far healthier in 2010 than he was in 2009.

“That’s why I know this season is gonna be different,” Westbrook said, “because I’ve got time to work out, time to get in shape, time to train, time to be the best player I can be. There’s no doubt about it when I go out and I’m healthy. This year I’m healthy. No excuses.”

The St. Louis Rams and Denver Broncos also remain possibilities for Westbrook.

Visanthe Shiancoe of the Minnesota Vikings has also been lobbying to acquire his services.
