Harry Douglas is getting back into the flow of the Atlanta Falcons offense, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
Douglas missed the entire 2009 season because of a knee injury, and his rehab process has gradually led him back into seeing playing time on the field in the last two preseason games.
Douglas, the team’s third round pick out of Louisville in 2008, had an effective rookie campaign playing multiple roles for the team. He caught 23 passes for 320 yards and a touchdown and averaged 11.9 yards on punt returns, including a 61-yard touchdown.
Douglas, who has blazing speed, should be a great compliment to an offense with plenty of weapons that already includes Michael Turner, Roddy White, Tony Gonzalez, and quarterback Matt Ryan.
Ryan is especially appreciative of having Douglas back in the fold.
“I think it was good for Harry to get back tonight and have a couple of catches,” Ryan said after Friday’s preseason win against Miami. “We have seen that every day in practice. He’s been out there and has been really productive. This was the first time in a game that he had a chance to go out there and play an extended period of time. It’s going to be huge to have him back. He’s definitely going to be a huge part of our offense.”
