Ex-Jet Dearth Looking Forward to Facing Former Teammates on Friday

James Dearth will face his former team in the New York Jets on Friday

Friday night will be a homecoming for newly signed Redskins long snapper James Dearth.

The Texas native spent the past nine seasons playing for the New York Jets whom he will face at the New Meadowlands Stadium.

“It’s going to be exciting to go against those guys,” Dearth said Tuesday at Redskins Park. “I’ve got a lot of friends there, so it’ll be fun.”

He previously admitted that he was dismissed from New York as they continue to stock their team with younger players, but he isn’t taking it personally.

“No ill feelings,” he said of his former team. “I know it’s a business. Guys move all over the place from one team to the next. It’s part of the business.”

Of course a trip to face the Jets also means national TV and the potential to land on HBO’s Hard Knocks. But that doesn’t seem to interest Dearth who said he won’t go out of his way to get on TV.

And what about Rex Ryan’s now famous potty mouth?

“You know, Rex is great,” the long snapper said. “He’s just real passionate so he gets fired up, but the guys love him. He’s been a great coach.”
