According to ProFootballTalk.com, the Washington Redskins and Donovan McNabb are working on a contract extension that could be completed this week. Jason Reid of the Washington Post writes that McNabb’s agent is “hopeful” and “optimistic” that a deal will be struck.
- It appears that the trade for Philadelphia Eagles’ former quarterback, Donovan McNabb will affect only Jimmy Clausen coming to Washington in the draft according to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com. Even though the former Notre Dame QB just completed a visit to Ashburn, now that Washington has acquired McNabb, they will likely NOT choose Clausen in the draft and Clausen will slip to #5 as the Rams possibly take Sam Bradford at #1, and the Chiefs, Seahawks, Browns and Bills will get a chance to take him.
- During the time that talks of trading McNabb were going on in Philadelphia, the 6-time ProBowler made it clear that he wasn’t going anywhere but Washington, according to Jason Cole of YahooSports.
- The Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles will play a Monday Night game on October 25, 2010. This will be the first meeting for the two teams in this new season and the first time Donovan McNabb has ever been the quarterback of a team other than the one that drafted him.
- According to the Washington Post’s Jason Reid, while meeting with reporters out at Nationals Park, baseball commissioner Bud Selig was a bit unhappy. It seems that the NFL trade of Donovan McNabb to the Washington Redskins might have stolen the spotlight from professional baseball’s regular season opening day.
