George Edwards resigned from the Miami Dolphins to become the new defensive coordinator at the University of Florida on Thursday.

Edwards, who was the Dolphins inside linebacker coach, was hired by Nick Saban in 2005. He was also reportedly a candidate for the vacant New York Giants defensive coordinator position.

Earlier in the week, fellow Dolphins linebacker coach Jim Reid resigned to become the defensive coordinator at the University of Virginia.

Ironically, there is speculation that former UVA coach Al Groh could wind up taking a job with the Dolphins next season according to Mike Beradino of the Sun-Sentinel.
