According to ESPN North Blogger Kevin Seifert, veteran Dante Wesley agreed to a two-year contract with Detroit on Friday. Wesley will begin participating in the Lions’ offseason program on Monday.

Wesley, 30, has spent seven of his eight NFL seasons with Carolina and one with Chicago. The 6-1, 210 lb. corner of  is expected to be a major contributor on the special teams unit as new Lions special teams coordinator Danny Crossman coached Wesley last season with the Panthers. Wesley has not recorded one interception in his career and had 11 tackles for Carolina last season.

The Lions released Phillip Buchanon and did not resign Anthony Henry – Detroit’s starting cornerbacks for most of last season. The team has also recently expressed interest in signing Adam “Pacman” Jones. However, they are one of only two or three teams knowingly interested in the once-troubled cornerback.
