Depending on who you believe, either Denver Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton was on the trading block earlier this year, or he wasn’t.
Orton, has been an interested spectator this offseason as the Broncos have acquired former Browns quarterback Brady Quinn, and drafted Heisman Winner Tim Tebow, out of Florida in the first round of the draft.
Multiple NFL sources told the Denver Post that Broncos “let it be known” that Kyle Orton was available this offseason.
Now , according to ESPNs Adam Schefter, a Denver official has texted him that “Kyle Orton has never been available or discussed, period.”
Regardless, Orton’s grasp on the top job seems tenuous at best, despite his extensive experience as a starting quarterback in the NFL. After leading Denver to a hot start in 2009, he became a scapegoat when they missed the playoffs.
Whether he was on the trading block or not, it has been obvious to observers at the team’s OTAs that Orton is the best quarterback in camp.
So, despite all the drama surrounding the new additions, most experts believe Orton gives the Broncos the best chance to win at the current time, and should remain the starter.
