David Carr
The San Francisco 49ers will meet with David Carr over the weekend as the NFL free agency bonanza rolls on.
The team is apparently looking for a replacement at backup behind Alex Smith according to Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger.
Carr, who played behind Eli Manning with the New York Giants last season, has also drawn interest from the Arizona Cardinals whose quarterback situation is somewhat up in the air with the retirement of Kurt Warner.
The Cardinals want to bring in somebody who can compete with Matt Leinart for the starting job in training camp.
He may not get the same opportunity in San Francisco as the 49ers coach Mike Singletary just gave Smith a vote of confidence.
