Although unconfirmed by Jerry Jones, Dallas Cowboys players are under the impression that Wade Phillips will be back as the team’s head coach next season.

Jones and Phillips addressed the defensive players Monday morning in Dallas and did not address the coach’s status with the team, but gave the impression that he will be back.

“It sounds like [Phillips will be back],” Cowboys safety Gerald Sensabaugh told the Dallas Morning News after the meeting. “I’d be shocked if he wasn’t. He did a great job coaching this year.”

ESPN’s Ed Werder reported that Phillips would be retained for the 2010 season earlier on Monday.
