Cleveland Browns return man and wide receiver Josh Cribbs is prepared to sit out the 2010 season if the team does not offer him more money or grant him a trade request.
Last week the Browns “insulted” Cribbs by offering him just a scant more money than he is earning now.
The team reportedly offered him a take-it-or-leave-it deal of $1.4 million annually. He is currently earning $1 million per season.
Cribbs was asked whether he intended on playing in Cleveland next season with that offer.
“Oh, if that’s it? No,” Cribbs said on ESPN Radio, per PFT.
But what if the Browns don’t (and most likely won’t) increase their offer?
“I won’t play,” he said. “I won’t play.”
The whole situation still seems baffling. Mike Holmgren was reportedly high on one of the top kick returners in NFL history when he arrived. He even hinted that Cribbs was going to get what was due to him.
I don’t think is what Cribbs thought he had in mind.
