The Dallas Cowboys trimmed their roster to 75 players Tuesday afternoon by making a trio of moves.

Veteran safety Pat Watkins, who had been with the team for the four seasons, was released.

The Cowboys also placed tight end John Phillips on injured reserve and added Stephen Hodge to the Reserve/PUP list.

Phillips, a second-year player, was lost for the season after tearing his ACL in the Hall of Fame Game against the Cincinnati Bengals earlier this month.

Meanwhile, head coach Wade Phillips had nothing but praise for Watkins after breaking the news to him.

“Pat’s done a good job for us,” Phillips said, per the Dallas Morning News. “He came in and played for us and helped us win games. It was just a decision we made. I think somebody will pick him up today, and I think he’ll do well.”
