Cowboys Offense Looked Good Until Goal Line, T.O. is Go To for Bengals

Tony Romo

Tony Romo led the Cowboys offense on an impressive opening drive until they reached the goal line.

The Dallas Cowboys offense looked sharp on its opening drive Sunday night against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Tony Romo and company didn’t seem like they lost a beat following a successful run in the playoffs last season.

They were crisp and picking apart the Bengals defense as they marched down the field. And then they stalled near the goal line. They would have come away with no points if not for a neutral zone penalty nullifying a fumble recovery for the Bengals.

They penalty gave the Cowboys first and goal inside the five, but still were unable to find the end zone and had to settle for a field goal.

It would be the only series for the Cowboys first-team offense.

Once the Bengals got the ball it became clear that Terrell Owens will play a big part in the Cincinnati offense this season.

Carson Palmer through to him routinely as Ochocinco was drawing double coverage. They connected once for seven yards and the Bengals offense was quickly off the field.

The Bengals offense got two looks on the field with Palmer immediately going back to T.O. on the first play of the second drive, connecting 11 yards and a first down. Three short plays later and the Bengals first-team was also done.
