Gaines Adams
Chicago Bears defensive end Gaines Adams passed away early Sunday morning at the age of 26. He was rushed to the Emergency Room at Self Regional in Greenwood, South Carolina where he was pronounced dead.
A preliminary screening by Greenwood County Coroner Jim Coursey revealed that Adams died of an enlarged heart which caused cardiac arrest according to Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network.
It is believed he was asleep at the time he suffered arrest.
A full autopsy will be performed Sunday afternoon in Anderson, South Carolina.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted Adams out of Clemson with the fourth overall in the 2007. He was traded to the Chicago Bears last October for a second-round draft pick in the 2010 draft.
On behalf of the entire FootballNewsNow.com family, I would like to extend our deepest condolences to Adams’ family, friends and fans.
