The Indianapolis Colts are in the market for a new kick returner.

The defending AFC Champions waived running back Chad Simpson who handled kickoffs for the team last season.

The 24-year-old played his first two seasons with club after signing as an undrafted free agent out of Morgan State in 2008.

Simpson racked up 898 yards and one touchdown on kickoff returns in 2009. He also had two rushing touchdowns and one through the air.

Adam Caplan of Scout.com reports that the solid performance of Mike Hart late last season was a factor in the team’s decision to release him.

Sam Giguere is a candidate to fill the vacancy on special teams.
