Colts Take Jets Approach to Manning Contract Talks… Silence

Peyton Manning

The Colts won't be making Peyton Manning's contract talks public

The Indianapolis Colts are about to take a page from the New York Jets playbook when it comes to contract negotiations with Peyton Manning.

“The ‘cone of silence’ is going to come down, at least for us,” Colts owner Jim Irsay told Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star (via PFT). “That’s how you get something done.”

The Jets infamously agreed to a media blackout with the recent Darrelle Revis negotiations, which culminated in a late night conference call over teh weekend to announce a deal had finally be reached.

Whether the same degree of silence will be enforced with Manning and the Colts remains to be seen. But one thing is for sure, the Super Bowl winning quarterack will be a very, very rich man when all is said and done.
