Colts’ Freeney Hopes to Play In Super Bowl, Likely Won’t

Dwight Freeney

Indianapolis Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney took part in Tuesday’s Media Day at the Super Bowl in Miami.

Reporters flocked to Freeney to pepper him with questions about his injured ankle and status for the big game on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.

Freeney stated that he has every intention of playing in the game, but it would ultimately be the coach’s decision. Warren Sapp of the NFL Network interpreted the comment as there’s no chance he’ll actually play.

The stud Colts defensive player confirmed reports that he had undergone rigorous treatment for his ankle, including spending time in an oxygen chamber. Still, nothing seemed to work.

His torn ligament in the right ankle was pretty swollen, but was uncovered as he spoke to the press.
