No. 31 Indianapolis Colts- Jerry Hughes, 6’1″, 255 lb.
It appears the Indianapolis Colts stayed true to their draft board in selecting TCU outside linebacker Jerry Hughes.
While the position was not a pressing need, the Colts can groom Hughes and utilize his speed on the edge at outside linebacker or defensive end.
Hughes, a former running back, led the nation in the last 26 games with 26.5 sacks.
Many thought the Colts would add more protection for All-Pro quarterback Peyton Manning, however Indianapolis must have felt there wasn’t an offensive lineman worthy of the pick.
Instead they turned to the other side of the ball, where starting defensive ends Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis will show Hughes the ropes.
