Colts Defensive End Freeney Misses 2nd Practice

dwight-freeneyDwight Freeney, defensive end for the Indianapolis Colts, is nursing a sprained ankle, an injury that occurred during the AFC Championship last weekend. It has everyone talking about whether he will play in the Super Bowl after missing two practices in a row.

Colts coach Jim Caldwell commented that Freeney’s recovery was” coming along,” but didn’t say anything specific. Colts President Bill Polian said on his weekly radio show Monday, “I don’t think it will have any real effect on the Super Bowl, especially if we get that treatment going as quickly as possible.”

Freeney has been selected to the Pro Bowl five times, but obviously will not play in this year’s Pro Bowl due to the injury and the bigger game a week later.

The Colts beat the New York Jets 30-17 to get to the Super Bowl and will take on the New Orleans Saints February 7th in Miami.
