Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan has an “open mind” about bringing running back Clinton Portis back for the 2010 season according to Charley Casserly of CBS.

A lot of doubt surrounded Portis’ status in Washington after Shanahan touched on his work ethic in his introductory press conference with the team.

Casserly still believes that the 28-year-old could be on the way out of town if he doesn’t spend time getting back into shape in the offseason.

The Redskins may have a difficult time trading Portis whose career is in its twilight. He is guaranteed a base salary of $6.43 million in 2010.
