Cleveland could name new GM on Monday

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Browns could announce Tom Heckert their new general manager as early Monday. Heckert has been Philadelphia’s GM since 2006.

Hecket’s father, also named Tom was scout for the Browns in the 1980s. In order to make this move to happen Monday the Eagles season would need to end Saturday night in Dallas.

Heckert was also a candidate to be GM in Seattle, but backed out of that interview.

On Friday Mike Holmgren met with Seattle’s pro personnel director Will Lewis and according to the NFL Network both men could wind up in Cleveland.
