Chiefs Sign LB John Russell, Waive G Andrew Lewis

The Kansas City Chiefs announced that the team has signed free agent linebacker John Russell and waived guard Andrew Lewis, according to KCChiefs.com.

Russell, a former Wake Forest Demon Deacon, stands at 6’4″ and weighs 280 lbs. He began the 2010 season as a rookie free agent with the Green Bay Packers.

He played in 51 games (29 starts) at Wake Forest, netting 137 tackles, 19.0 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, one interception, a pass defensed, two fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles.

Lewis was trying to make the Chiefs’ roster as a rookie free agent out of Oklahoma State.
