The San Diego Chargers traded CB Antonio Cromartie to the New York Jets for a third-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft according to multiple league sources.
Depending on Cromartie’s play in New York, the Chargers could move up to a second-round pick according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The New York Jets coaching staff is hoping that the secondary now has the potential to be a shut down defense between Darrelle Revis and this most recent addition.
The question now becomes whether or not Jets coach Rex Ryan will be able to turn the former Charger into a more consistent player next season.
If so, that defense could propel the Jets deeper into the playoffs.
