The San Diego Chargers begin the regular season in Kansas City vs. a Chiefs team that brought in new offensive and defensive coordinators this offseason.
Kansas City hired former Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis to run their offense, and former Cleveland Browns head coach Romeo Crennel to run the defense.
Weis and Crennel were both coordinators together for three of the New England Patriots’ Super Bowl wins.
In order to get a better grasp as to what their week one opponents might do, Chargers’ coaches watched a multitude of game film this spring, according to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
“You look at Cleveland and Notre Dame, and you look at New England when Charlie was in New England,” Turner said.
San Diego and Kansas City are the second game of a doubleheader on opening night of Monday night Football September 13.
