The Chargers granted the Seahawks permission to speak with Vincent Jackson.
The San Diego Chargers appear ready to cut ties with holdout wide receiver Vincent Jackson.
The team granted the Seattle Seahawks permission to discuss contract terms with Jackson on Friday according to a Yahoo! Sports report.
Chargers G.M. A.J. Smith declined comment on the situation, but Seattle has confirmed they have held contract discussions with Jackson’s agents.
San Diego may be feeling pressure to get something for Jackson while they can. The belief is that he will not report at all this season and the Chargers are unwilling to meet his long-term contract request worth $9 million per season.
Whether he can get that from the Seahawks remains to be seen. No significant progress has been made to this point.
