Chad Simpson Glad to Be In Washington

Chad Simpson is happy to be in Washington

The Washington Redskins signed kick returner/running back Chad Simpson to the team yesterday and he is glad to be in Washington.

“I feel great,” Simpson said today before practice. “Mike Shanahan’s known to have no-name backs come out of nowhere and rush for1,000 yards so I just want to come here and learn and get better.”

Simpson spent the 2008 and 2009 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and was waived by the team in April of 2010. He was then picked up by the Buffalo Bills the next month but only lasted through September 4. Being out of work for a few weeks is not something Simspon wants to get used to.

“I’m just happy to be on a team right now,” the former Buffalo Bill said. “I’ve been sitting out for two weeks and watching everyone play has been kind of nerve-racking.”

The addition of Simpson has sparked guesswork about the plans the team has for kick returner Devin Thomas and, with the release of veteran running back Larry Johnson, number two running back Keiland Williams.

The way Mike Shanahan keeps things close to the vest, we won’t know what the Redskins are going to do until it’s already happened.
