The NFL announced that country music superstar Carrie Underwood has been chosen to sing the National Anthem at Super Bowl XLIV.

Actress and singer Queen Latifah will also be on hand to sing “America the Beautiful” at the event.

Underwood famously dated Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo before splitting for a hockey player. Romo has also been linked to singer Jessica Simpson who many blamed for the Cowboys playoff losses.

And in other irrelevant non-football type news, the coin used for the coin toss prior to kickoff has been to space.

The New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts will kick off the event in Miami shortly after 6:30 p.m. on February 7.
