Cardinals WR Ed Gant Suspended, Tests Positive for Banned Substance

Ed Gant

Ed Gant was suspended four games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Ed Gant was suspended four games on Monday for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drugs policy.

Gant may have damaged his chances at becoming the team’s fourth receiver following Monday’s announcement. There was opportunity to him to move up the depth chart following the departure of Anquan Boldin.

The 25-year-old will still be eligible to participate in training camp and preseason, but will begin serving his suspension once the regular season begins.

Per NFL rules, Gant would not count against the team’s 53-man roster in September while he serves his suspension. Of course that becomes moot if the Cardinals cut him during training camp.
