Jeremy Trueblood denies the police account of what happened Tuesday night.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive lineman Jeremy Trueblood is disputing an officer’s account of the events that led to him being detained by police Tuesday night in Indiana.
Greenfield (Ind.) police Maj. Derek Towle told the Indianapolis Star that Trueblood and friend were “stumbling around and almost knocked over a woman with a baby” at a gas station around 7 p.m. Tuesday.
A patron at the gas station called 911 to report that the pair were possibly driving drunk after they left. However, it was Trueblood’s mother (or wife depending on whose story you believe) that was actually behind the wheel.
Following a traffic stop, police took him into custody and booked him into the Hancock County Jail at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night where he remained until Wednesday morning.
Trueblood, however, disputes nearly the entire account.
“Oddly enough, I never stepped in a gas station, or out of my passenger seat till they made me,” Trueblood told Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune.
Hancock County Prosecutor Dean Dobbins declined to press charges against the NFL player because they were using a designated driver.
