Perhaps in a drunken case of mistaken identity, a Browns fan tackled an 8 year old boy in Jets garb while leaving the stadium on Sunday.
According to boy’s mother, “As he was walking, holding my son’s hand, a guy from behind tackled him. A drunken Browns fan tackled him and pulled him out of his dad’s hand. He was on the ground crying.”
Instead of reporting the incident to the police immediately, the father opted to continue to the family car for safety reasons. Although the injuries were minor, a bruised ankle, the confrontation will certainly leave an unfortunate lasting impression.
The event is indeed disheartening for the Browns front office and the image of the Cleveland faithful.
“One thing Browns President Mike Holmgren said when he got here was home field advantage and a fan friendly environment is very important,” Browns vice president of media relation Neal Gulkis said.
Gulkis reiterated ticket holders can report unruly fans via text message to stadium security anytime during the game through the number located on the scoreboard.
