Browns Likely to Have Joe Haden Signed Before Camp

Joe Haden

Joe Haden should be at Browns camp on time.

The Cleveland Browns should have their first-round draft pick Joe Haden under contract before the start of training camp according to his agent.

“We’ve been in contact with the Browns and expect to begin negotiating next week,” Haden’s agent Malik Shareef told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “Our main objective is to get Joe in camp on time so he can perform to the best of his abilities. A holdout would not be in anyone’s best interests.”

The seventh overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft has been splitting time with first- and second-team defense during OTAs and minicamp.

He is expected to compete with Sheldon Brown for the starting cornerback job during training camp.

Previously, the team said it was going to break him in slowly. We shall see.
