Broncos First Rounders Thomas and Tebow Remain Unsigned

Denver Broncos rookies Demaryius Thomas and Tim Tebow missed their second consecutive practice Thursday as contract talks with the Broncos front office continue.

“Nothing to report,” head coach Josh McDaniels said when asked about the negotiations with Thomas and Tebow and their agents. “We’re still working away at it.”

McDaniels hopes to get a deal done soon.

“Hopefully it’s closer than not close, McDaniels said, ”and as soon as we can tie the knot we’ll get them over here, run the conditioning tests and do all that stuff. Like I said (Wednesday), we’re working on it as much as we can and (trying) to get them here as quickly as possible.”

Thomas, an ex Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket was Denver’s first pick in the draft at number 22 overall, and is expected to immediately contribute to an offense that will be without Pro Bowl wideout Brandon Marshall. Marshall singed with the Miami Dolphins during the offseason.

Tebow, drafted three spots behind Thomas is expected to be listed at number three on the Broncos QB depth chart, but the former Heisman Trophy winner should see ample playing time on short yardage/goal line plays as well as the Broncos’ “Wild Horses” formation.

UPDATE: Tim Tebow signed a five-year, $33 million deal Thursday afternoon. (contract details)
