Brian Westbrook Likely Headed to Broncos, Rams or Redskins

Brian Westbrook

Brian Westbrook

Brian Westbrook could make a decision this week on which team he will play for next season.

The former Philadelphia Eagles running back has apparently narrowed his options down to three teams.

Still under consideration are the Denver Broncos, St. Louis Rams and Washington Redskins according to Howard Balzer of the St. Louis Globe-Democrat (via Gregg Rosenthal at PFT).

While Steven Jackson is the clear starter in St. Louis, the belief is that the team does not yet have his backup for next year on the roster.

As our own Diane Chesebrough has pointed out before, the Redskins backfield is plenty full with Clinton Portis and the additions of Larry Johnson and Willie Parker. Although it would be interesting to see him paired with Donovan McNabb again.

The Denver Broncos already have a pair of former Eagles in their backfield with Correll Buckhalter and Brian Dawkins.

It’s anybody’s guess as to where he winds up next season, but he could see more playing time with the Broncos than anywhere else.

We expect the Redskins to be his third choice.
